Today I want you to understand about public competition and what it represents in Brazil. For a long time, passing a public exam was the dream of most Brazilians. Because, in addition to the great salaries, the prospect of having a permanent job without being able to leave was dazzling. For decades, people sought academic training with the aim of taking a certain public exam.

But, in recent years, the idea of a public examination has been left a little aside due to the lack of vacancies in this regard. Due to government economic measures and other issues, the number of competitions has reduced significantly in recent years. However, there is hope that this scenario will change with the change of government. But we will only know that with time.

The Public Tender in Brazil

As a way of explaining, I can say that the public examination is a form of selection of public servants in Brazil, which is governed by the Federal Constitution of 1988. This form of selection is used to fill vacancies in various public bodies, from municipal to the feds.

Therefore, the public competition is a democratic and fair form of selection, as it allows all citizens who meet the requirements for the vacancy to have the same opportunity to compete. Furthermore, it is a way of ensuring that public servants have the necessary qualifications to perform their duties efficiently and responsibly.

Therefore, all public competitions are organized by the responsible public bodies, such as city halls, state governments and federal bodies, and normally involve a written or practical test, in addition to other steps, such as qualification evaluation and medical examinations.

However, to participate in a public competition, it is necessary to pay attention to the notices published by the responsible bodies, which contain all information about vacancies, requirements, deadlines and stages of the selection process. It is worth noting that, even after passing the public examination, the candidate still needs to go through other stages, such as appointment and inauguration, before effectively becoming a public servant.

Contracting regimes for Public Tenders

In the public service, there are basically three regimes for hiring employees, they are:

  1. Statutory Regime: This is the most common regime in the public service and is applied to permanent civil servants who passed a public examination and were appointed to permanent public positions. The statutory regime is governed by specific laws for each federative entity (Union, States and Municipalities) and defines the rules for hiring, remuneration, stability, vacation, retirement and other rights of public servants.
  2. CLT Regime: The CLT regime is applied to employees hired under the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT) regime. This regime is used to temporarily hire staff for specific functions or to meet seasonal and emergency demands, such as health and education services. Under this regime, employees do not have stability and their labor rights are governed by the CLT.
  3. Special Regime: The special regime is applied to specific public positions and functions and is governed by specific laws, as is the case with the military and members of the Public Ministry. This regime defines specific rules for each career, including hiring conditions, remuneration, benefits and labor rights.

What is the advantage of taking a public exam?

The public examination has several advantages for both society and candidates seeking a career in the public sector. Some of these advantages include equal opportunities, as all candidates who meet the required requirements have the same chances of being selected. This ensures that the selection process is transparent and free from any type of favoritism or discrimination.

Furthermore, once taking office, the public servant has the guarantee of job stability, which means that he can only be fired for legal reasons and after an administrative process. This provides financial security and peace of mind for public servants and their families.

Remuneration and benefits are other attractions in the competition. Public servants receive fixed remuneration and benefits such as health insurance, food vouchers, paid vacations, thirteenth salary, among others. Furthermore, pay for civil servants is generally more attractive than other jobs in the private sector, especially in higher-level positions.

Finally, everything can still get better, as there is the possibility of professional advancement: Public servants approved in a competition have the possibility of advancing their career, assuming positions of greater responsibility and remuneration, in accordance with the rules established by the public body in which they are employed. it works.

How do I know if the Public Tender is for me?

Well, this is a very personal question and everyone has an answer to it. I will leave my opinion here. To begin with, public examinations are for those who like to study. Don't think you will be approved without study for the exam. That does not exist.

Therefore, if you are a person who likes to study and thinks that the stability of a public job will give you peace of mind in your life. Or, enabling you to start a family and provide support for it, it can be a great option. After all, who doesn't want to go to sleep and wake up employed every day?
